Hortons fire Burlington coffee

Investigators remain on the scene of a fire that occurred overnight at a popular Tim Hortons.

Reports indicate extensive damage was done to the store located on Brant St. at Upper Middle Rd.

As well, there are reports that several garbage cans were set on fire at the nearby shopping plaza.

No injuries were reported and the store was closed at the time.

Police and fire officials are investigating the fire which some have deemed to be suspicious.

Several people who commented on social media say the location is a normally busy one, especially for those picking up a coffee on the way to work.

“No coffee for me today and hundreds of others,” wrote one person on a Burlington Facebook chat group. “Looks like a lot of damage was done. Hope it reopens soon.”

Police have subsequently arrested a 69-year-old man and charged him with arson.
