Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Burlington home that was under construction, but the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office won’t be involved.

The Fire Marshal often gets called in during these types of investigations but that won’t be the case this time after co-ordinating procedures with the Burlington Fire Department.

The fire broke out just before midnight on Feb. 5 with smoke and flames that could be seen for miles away from the location on Emerald Cres.

The blaze caused about $500,000 worth of damage and was contained to one site although firefighters had to work to stop it from spreading.

Those on social media said the flames could be seen across the city against the night sky making the fire look larger than it was.

“Wow. when I looked out my window I thought the entire neighbourhood was going up in flames,” one apartment dwelling posted on a Facebook chat group. “What a relief to hear that no one was injured.”
