A popular annual program is back to give Milton youth free transit rides this summer.
The Read and Ride program returns from June 24 to September 2, and will allow kids 16 and under free access to Milton Transit buses by showing a validated library card upon boarding.
Transit validation stickers, which must be placed on the library card, will be freely available at all Milton Public Library locations starting Saturday, June 24.
The program will be kicked off with a free event on June 24 at the Main Library at 1010 Main Street East. From 1 to 4 p.m., residents are invited to take part in games and activities, receive their validation stickers, and participate in a scavenger hunt on a Milton Transit bus parked outside the library.
The celebration will also signal the start of the Milton Public Library’s TD Summer Reading Club.
Tony D’Alessandro, Director at Milton Transit, says they’re excited to offer the program for another year.
“The aim of the program is to encourage youth within the community to explore the Town while continuing to foster the love of learning and reading over the summer months,” said D’Alessandro.
“The Read and Ride program is the perfect way for local youth to explore Milton this summer while connecting them to the many programs and resources offered by the Milton Public Library,” said Kanta Kapoor, Interim Chief Librarian for the Milton Public Library
