Milton’s Seniors Active Living Centre received provincial funding of more than $51,000 today.

The announcement was made by Milton MPP Parm Gill.

“Proud to announce that the Milton Seniors Activity Centre is receiving more than $51,000 to help our seniors keep fit, healthy, active, and connected to our community,’’ said Parm Gill, MPP for Milton.

“By investing in Seniors Active Living Centre programs, we will be helping more older adults get the programs and services they need to live healthy, independent lives.”

These community hubs bring adults aged 50 and over together and provide opportunities to participate in classes and activities, as well as other resources to support independent, healthy living.

“The Milton Seniors’ Activity Centre is a pillar in our community that brings life learning, fitness, connection and health to many older adults,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz.

“We are grateful for this funding that will support seniors’ wellness with engagement workshops and equipment to support our programming and cafeteria.”

Across Ontario there is a network of almost 300 Seniors Active Living Centre programs supported by the province’s investment of more than $14 million dollars.

“Seniors Active Living Centres are the action centres for our seniors all over Ontario,” said Hon. Raymond Cho, Ontario’s Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “These Centres are a part of our community, and they help keep our seniors fit, active, healthy, socially connected close to home.”
