A Georgetown man is facing a slew of charges after a downtown break-in spree.

Halton police received several calls for a suspicious male on Market St. in Georgetown on Feb. 22 at 6:25 a.m.

The male was seen entering a vehicle parked on the street and leaving on a bicycle.

A short time later a citizen saw the suspect and chased him into the backyard of a home.

Uniform and canine officers responded and established a perimeter.

Roughly 30 minutes after the initial call, the suspect was seen by an officer walking between two homes.

He was taken into custody.

Police allege the suspect is responsible for breaking into several unlocked vehicles and garages in the area.

A stolen laptop computer, bicycle and GPS device – worth $5,000 – were recovered, say investigators, and returned to the owners.

Bailey Collins, 21, is charged with: two counts of break and enter; two counts of theft under $5,000; possession of break-in instruments; two counts of possession of stolen property; three counts of fail to comply with probation order; fail to comply with Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence or disposition.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
