A teenager from Hamilton faces several charges following a gunpoint carjacking in Burlington.

Halton police say the incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 29) when an SUV driver was confronted by three males in the parking area of Burlington Arena.

One of the males pointed a gun at the victim and demanded the keys of the SUV then fled the area with the stolen vehicle. The accomplices left the scene in a pickup truck.

Later, the stolen vehicle was found in Hamilton and the suspects were observed near the scene. When officers moved in to make an arrest the suspect vehicle — a white Mercedes — sped off striking the Halton police cruiser. There were no injuries.

Officers continued their investigation and a short time later an arrest was made.

A 15-year-old from Hamilton, who cannot be named, is now charged with robbery with a firearm, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and two counts of possessing a firearm contrary to a probation order.
