Acton Arena in Halton Hills will be closed due to construction on Friday, Aug. 25.

According to the Town, the arena is currently undergoing a project to implement a refrigeration heat recovery system and replace the existing dehumidifier on the Townsley Rink.

“This is a major project with significant mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades,” said a Town spokesperson.

“To complete the electrical upgrades and bring the new arena mechanical systems online, the electrical system for the entire facility will need to be shut down. During the shut down, Halton Hills Hydro will be switching over the service feeding from Queen St. and our contractor will be completing necessary electrical upgrade works for the new transformer and within the building.”

The shut down is anticipated to take the full day, starting at 9 a.m. and will force the closure of the Acton Arena & Community Centre, including the Hillsview Active Living Centre.

Programs in the facility will be cancelled for the day and Youth Camp programs will be re-located to the Acton Youth Centre.

It is anticipated that the shut-down will only be for the day and the facility will be operational again by Saturday.
