Halton Hills man facing charges in connection with last month’s Georgetown bank robbery

A Halton Hills man is facing criminal charges following last month’s robbery of a Georgetown bank last month.

Just after noon on March 27, a man entered the Royal Bank located at 83 Main St. S. in Georgetown. The suspect approached a teller and a demand for cash was made. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapons were observed and no physical injuries were reported.

Through the course of investigation, Halton officers were able to identify the suspect. On April 6, the suspect was arrested in the area of Guelph St. and Mountainview Rd. in Georgetown.

Jonathan Lane, 29, of Georgetown has been charged with robbery and disguise with intent.

Lane was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
