Halton police arrest Toronto man wanted in Edmonton shooting

Halton police are helping their fellow officers in Edmonton solve a shooting case.
An Edmonton woman in her 20s was shot in the early morning hours of Sept. 3, 2022. The investigation by local police led them to to Halton. On Jan. 27, in coordination with Edmonton police, Halton officers executed a search warrant on a residence and a vehicle in Toronto.
During the search, Halton police seized a Glock handgun and other evidence to support the investigation.
Khatar Mohamed Mussa, 33, is facing charges of attempt murder while using a restricted firearm, possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm and possession of a firearm knowing it to be unauthorized.
“This was a random act of violence that nearly killed an innocent woman who was out enjoying a long weekend with friends,” said Staff-Sgt. Eric Stewart, of the Edmonton police. “It’s an example of a brazen, public shooting where there were a number of witnesses, and we want to thank those who came forward.”
Edmonton police sent their official thanks to Halton police for their cooperation in locating and arresting the accused.
