Halton Police Searching for Suspected Sephora Thief Who Stole Thousands Worth of Makeup
A suspect with an affinity for luxury cosmetics is being sought by Halton police after allegedly stealing more than $10,000 worth of products from a popular beauty chain with locations in Burlington and Oakville.
“I’m sure she’s hit other places. She’s a professional,” said Const. Naresh Dabas from the retail crime investigations unit.
“Somebody, somewhere, knows who she is.”
Police allege the woman is behind at least nine separate incidents at Sephora stores across southern Ontario, including three thefts at Mapleview and one incident at Oakville Place.
“Sometimes she works alone, sometimes she works with an accomplice,” Dabas said.
The woman’s accomplice has been identified.
The spree began last April, running until roughly the end of May.
“It’s mostly makeup items and stuff like that that are fairly expensive because they’re brand names,” said Dabas.
The suspect is making off with different types of products, ranging from cleaners to foundation, allegedly targeting small items “so she’s easily able to conceal them and walk out with them,” said Dabas.
The woman has been shopping at different times of day and hitting up locations varying from Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton to London’s Masonville Place.
There may be more stores in the Greater Toronto Area targeted by the woman, police say.
