Halton Residents Warned of Gas Scam by Police

Halton Regional Police are advising caution for residents in Milton and Halton Hills about a scam in their area.

According to police, the scam involves people “running out of gas” on rural roads. The occupants ask passing motorists for cash for gas in exchange for fake jewelry. The latest staged vehicle was a blue minivan with hood propped open.

Police say the suspects are male, 30-50 years old with olive complexions and eastern European accents.

Most recent events occurred in Nassagaweya and southeast Halton Hill.
