Hamilton’s Corktown/Durand neighbourhood is getting a new grocery story in the next six weeks, with March 18 pegged as the opening date if all goes well with construction.

The store, to be called ‘The Market,’ will be located at 165 James St. S. in the new Greystone building. The store will be part of the Hasty Market chain of grocery stores but is a new concept developed by the company with a smoothie station, coffee bar, grab ‘n go sandwiches, produce and a bakery.

A spokesperson for Burlington-based Hasty Market, who said she was “excited to be back in the community,” said the new store will be operated by the same man who used to run the former Hasty Market store at the Corktown Plaza a couple of blocks away.

Hasty Market operates more than 150 small- to medium-sized locations in Ontario, including about a dozen in Hamilton. The company has been around since 1981.
