Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Canada Day in Halton This Year

Canada Day 2019 is right around the corner… and there is a lot going on throughout the Halton Region, and we’ve got the scoop.
Canada Day 2019 is right around the corner… and there is a lot going on throughout the Halton Region, and we’ve got the scoop. Here’s everything you need to know about Canada Day, Canada’s 152nd birthday, in Halton this year.
BURLINGTON
Burlington’s Canada Day celebration, presented by Canadian Tire, is returning to Spencer Smith Park on July 1 from 2 to 11 p.m.
The celebration will kick off at 4 p.m. with the Burlington Teen Tour Band and remarks from special guests, including the Mayor of Itabashi, Burlington’s twin city, Takeshi Sakamoto.
There will also be a slew of entertaining events on the park’s main stage. These events are as follows.

- Bharatham Academy of Indian Dance at 2:30 p.m.
- Opening ceremonies featuring Burlington Teen Tour Band and Japanese Taiko and Music Group at 4 p.m.
- White Pine Dancers at 5:30 p.m.
- Symphony on the Bay at 7 p.m.
- Guitarist Johannes Linstead at 8:30 p.m.
- Fireworks presented by BUNZL at 10 p.m.
Additional fun events that will be taking place at the park include yoga by the pier at 9 a.m., Canada Day 5k at 10 a.m., and a citizenship ceremony at 1 p.m.
According to a press release from the city, numerous other event highlights include stilt walkers, face painters, hair artists, giant inflatables, sampling booths, great food, vendors and lots of true Canadian spirit.
There is a high demand for parking downtown during this event. As a result, the city is encouraging residents to consider other transportation options such as cycling, walking, car-pooling or Burlington Transit.
In addition, a fully accessible, free shuttle service will run from 2 to 11 p.m.
“The shuttle will make stops at the Burlington GO Station (north side) and travel to the downtown bus terminal,” reads the release. “A free bike parking will be available near the Waterfront Hotel for cyclists to secure their bikes.”
In addition to this celebration, Burlington’s outdoor pool locations will also be open for unlimited access to recreational swimming for only $4.40 per person, and $3.05 after 5 p.m.
Hours for Canada Day are as follows:
- Nelson Pool – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- LaSalle Splash Park – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Mountainside Pool 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All seven of the city’s spray pad locations will be open and are always free.
OAKVILLE
From 6 to 10 p.m. the town of Oakville will be hosting Canada Day celebrations at the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. And, weather permitting, there will be a firework show at 10 p.m.
According to the town’s website, there will be family activities, music, and food trucks at the celebration.
However, residents should be aware that there will be road closures in effect (starting at 5 p.m. on July 1).

MILTON
According to the town’s website, from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Canada Day celebrations will be held at the Hugh Foster Hall and the Milton Fairgrounds.
The free event will end with music and fireworks.
HALTON HILLS
There will be a Canada Day swim at the Gellert Community Centre from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. (regular admittance and admissions will apply).
All other regularly planned swimming is cancelled that day.
In addition, there will also be a few other events taking place.
There will also be a fireworks show in Acton, organized by the Acton Fire Fighters Association. The show is expected to start at dusk. We will provide more information regarding the exact location as it becomes available.
