Here’s How Children Can be Part of the Milton Public Library in a Huge Way

The Milton Public Library has presented its young readers with an exciting opportunity.

In the library’s ‘Children’s Card Contest’ young artists in the town can help the library design its new children’s library cards.
The contest will run until July 19.
So, who can enter this contest?

According to the library, the contest is open to children ages three to seven, or eight to twelve, who live or go to school in the town.
This contest is something that the library staff is looking forward to.
“Staff are looking forward to seeing the entries from the all of the creative children that live and study in Milton and who use Milton Public Library,” Mark Williams, Chief Librarian, said in a statement. “We’re also really thrilled that once again Commander Chris Hadfield is lending his support to MPL [Milton Public Library] by agreeing to select the winning entries.”
The contest theme is outer space, honouring Commander Chris Hadfield, a Milton native, who, as mentioned, will be judging the contest.
Hadfield will select one winning design from each age category.
And those who are planning on entering are encouraged to get creative.
“MPL is asking children to be creative with their outer space card design, using original art forms (photography, paint, pencil crayons, crayons etc.) to help bring the new cards to life,” reads a recent press release. “The sky is the limit when it comes to the design and the entries will be judged based on creativity and design.”
Entries must be submitted in person or online by Friday, July 19 at 4:59 p.m.
Winners will be chosen in early August.

The winning designs will be revealed and the winners will be honoured at the launch party for the new children’s cards in September 2019.
The new cards will be available after the September launch and children will be able to replace their current cards at no cost.
The library will also be launching a new adult card that will be available soon.
