Here’s How Oakville Residents Can Have Their Say on the Future of Bronte GO Station

If you're an Oakville resident who's been wanting to have their say on the future of the Bronte GO station, your opportunity has arrived.

The Town of Oakville is hosting a public engagement workshop where residents can provide their feedback on the future of the station and its surrounding areas.

This workshop is being held on March 21, 2019, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre in the Rehearsal Hall (2302 Bridge Rd.).

This workshop is the result of the Town of Oakville conducting a study, known as the Bronte GO Major Transit Station Area Study, of the GO station and surrounding areas.

According to the Town of Oakville website, the goal of the study is to, "Provide updated and new policies to delineate the boundary of the major transit station area, the mix of land uses (e.g. employment, commercial, residential) and the intensity and scale of future development."

At the workshop there will be many opportunities for residents to share their thoughts and ideas regarding the study.

"The workshop will begin with an open house, where you can drop in, read about the study, and speak to members of the study team," notes the town's website. "A presentation will follow, as well as an interactive session where you will be able to work with the study team to identify the opportunities and challenges within the study area, and share your ideas for how to improve the study area as we move forward."

The Bronte GO station was identified as a major transit station area (MTSA) in the province's Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (2017) and the town's Urban Structure Review.

Following the workshop, the town will be creating a plan in order to guide how the GO station will grow and change in the future. This plan, according to the Town of Oakville website, will help create transit-supportive community.
