In a list released Tuesday (Aug. 6) by Indeed.ca, features three Toronto-based companies in the top spots.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), ranked as Indeed.ca’s top-rated workplace in the country, with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and TD Bank rounding out the top three respectively.
The list is based on 1.3 million ratings and reviews on the site.

“I enjoy the people, the fans, and the environment,” wrote a current employee of MLSE in their company review on Indeed. “There are so many areas to grow within the organization. The ability to find your own path is breathtaking.”
In addition to owning the Toronto Raptors, MLSE owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto FC and the Toronto Argonauts and employs approximately 4,000 people.
The companies are rated on their overall employee experience and represent reviews left by site users between June 2017 and June 2019 on Indeed Company Pages.
“[MLSE is] a great place to work with lots of room for learning,” another employee review claims. “Workplace culture centres around Toronto-centric experiences, and it’s nice to feel like you’re a part of the team and adding to that atmosphere.”
For the second year in a row, Fairmont resides near the top of the list. Last year, the hotel chain took the No. 1 spot. In most employee reviews, the company is praised for its culture of opportunity.
“Fairmont Hotels & Resorts provided me with the opportunity to grow and expand my professional career as well as work with outstanding, passionate colleagues focused on [the] company’s mission to meet and exceed the customer experience,” says one employee’s review.
The release of the list comes as Canadian job seekers and employers alike step up their search as the summer nears its end.
“We’ve all researched a company online to see what people say about working there — whether we are job seekers considering an opening or employers looking for information on a competitor,” said Jodi Kasten, managing director at Indeed Canada. “In fact, in a recent survey, 92 per cent of job seekers told us that if they were considering a new job opportunity, insight into a company’s reputation would be important to them.”
