Following our article yesterday, here’s everything we know about this festive event in Milton.

In total there are two CP Holiday Trains that come to Canada.

The U.S. Train departed from Montreal on Nov. 25 and is travelling south making stops in Quebec, New York and Southern Ontario before continuing its journey through the U.S. and into southern Saskatchewan for its final stop in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on Dec. 16.

The Canadian Train will depart from Montreal today, Nov. 27, and will travel west through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia for its final show of the 2018 CP Holiday Train tour in Port Coquitlam on Dec. 18.

This year the train is coming to Milton.

The train will be in the Town of Milton tomorrow, Nov. 28, at the Glen Eden Ski & Snowboard Centre located at 5234 Kelso Rd. in the West Parking Lot.

The train will be arriving at 4:45 p.m. and the event will take place from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Performers at this event will include the Sam Roberts Band and JoJo Mason.

So, what else can you expect from this CP Holiday Train event?

“A typical Holiday Train event goes something like this: the train arrives and pulls to a safe stop in front of the crowd,” according to the CP Holiday Train official website.

“The stage door lowers and the band opens with its first song. After that, a brief presentation takes place with local food bank officials and other dignitaries. Once complete, the band resumes performing a mix of traditional and modern holiday-themed songs.  The whole event lasts about 30 minutes. Once the band plays its farewell song, the stage door closes, and the train heads off to the next stop.”

Each train is roughly 1,000 feet in length and consist of 14 rail cars that are decorated in LED lights and holiday designs.

In addition to celebrating the holidays, one of the main goals of the CP Holiday Train is to raise money and give food to food banks in the visited communities.

Since 1999, more than $14.5 million has been raised and more than 4.3 million pounds of food has been donated to food banks in North America.

Train routes alternate each year.
