The Milton District Hospital Foundation recently received more than $100,000 for equipment priorities.

As noted in a recent press release, the Canadian National Railway (CN) has donated $150,000 to the Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF).

The money, as mentioned, will go towards making sure that the Milton District Hospital is equipped to meet the needs of the rapidly growing town.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Milton District Hospital Foundation to support the hospital’s ongoing equipment needs,” Sean Finn, executive vice-president, Corporate Services and chief legal officer, CN, said in a statement. “The amount of CN’s donation — $150,000 – represents a more than doubling of the court costs the company was awarded following an unsuccessful legal challenge over the planned CN Milton Logistics Hub. We believe strongly in giving back to the communities we serve.”

MDHF Chair Brian Penman also commented on the recent donation.

“Milton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities, and the Milton District Hospital needs to keep pace with that growth,” Penman said in a statement. “Having quadrupled in size, the hospital has an even greater need for replacement and new equipment and technical upgrades. Support from our community allows MDHF to purchase updates that are not funded by [the] government. We are thrilled that once again CN is stepping forward to support us. Thanks to the generosity of donors like CN, Milton District Hospital Foundation continues to fill the hospital’s annual equipment needs, and can stay up to date with technological advances and upgrades.”

However, this isn’t the first CN has donated money to the hospital.

As noted in the release, back in 2015 CN donated $300,000 through the CN ‘Miracle Match’ program. Which, according to the release, “Launched a compelling and innovative match gift challenge to the business community – and doubled the impact of its gift.”

The release continues to explain, “In recognition of CN’s generosity, the Family Lounge in the in the newly expanded Maternal Newborn Department was named in honour of the company.”

Currently, there are more than 45,700 annual visits at the hospital, more than 1,000 babies are delivered each year, more than 10,500 surgeries and procedures are performed annually, and in the last year around 3,000 MRI scans were done.
