Heritage Week will have extra significance this year as Burlington marks its 150th birthday.

From Aug. 5 through 12 there will be no less than 16 official events that will take place across the city, events that honour Burlington’s past and celebrate the culture that has shaped the community.

“Heritage Week is a time to celebrate the many aspects of Burlington’s various heritages,” said Michele Camacho, chair of Heritage Burlington. “The celebrations are even more special this year, as Burlington celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary.”

Opening ceremonies will take place on Aug. 5 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church with walking tours, festivals, celebrations, concerts and other activities taking place throughout the week.

“Heritage Burlington is so glad to be able to welcome the community to take part in a fantastic lineup of events to mark this milestone,” Camacho continued.

The list of events is extensive and can best be found through the Heritage Week link on the City of Burlington website.
