Ontario housing starts up, but still far off needed levels for 1.5 million homes

A proposed high-rise in Burlington could bring 355 new housing units into the area.

The development calls for a 29-storey building at 1026 Cooke Blvd. near Plains Rd. E.

The area is currently mostly industrial but other housing developments are also planned nearby. A multiple-tenant industrial unit currently stands at the site.

According to City of Burlington documents, the project is currently in the pre-development application phase. A public meeting to discuss the plan is scheduled for Oct. 11.

As well as the 29 storeys and 355 housing units, preliminary plans call for a ground floor with retail area and a total of 316 parking spaces in four levels underground.

Here are the details to attend the pre-application public meeting which starts at 7 p.m.

Typically, after a pre-application public meeting is held, the owner will consider the feedback before submitting a formal building application to the City.
