High winds prompt burning ban in Halton Hills

Halton Hills has issued a ban on all outdoor burning.

The ban is in effect due to high winds that are expected to continue throughout the day (Feb. 28) and into tomorrow. The fear is that wind could spread flames.

When a burn ban is in effect, all permits are suspended until the ban is lifted.

In general, only residents with a valid open-air permit may have a fire when burning is permitted.

As well, open-air burn permits are only available on detached properties. Open-air burning (i.e. chimnea, fire pit, fire bowl, prefab fireplace) is prohibited in townhomes or semi-detached properties.
