Improved accessibility for all users is the goal for upgrades along a section of the waterfront trail in Burlington.

The work will be done at Sioux Lookout Park, located between Brookfield Ave. and Roseland Creek (west of Lakeland Cres.) and is being carried out as part of the overall reconstruction of Lakeshore Rd.

The resurfaced trail will improve accessibility and accommodate multiple users, according to the City of Burlington.

“When complete, the trail will be barrier-free and will meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) Standards,” according to construction documents.

It will include a two-metre-wide concrete trail and resting areas.

The trail in Sioux Lookout Park is part of the Trans Canada Trail and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail that runs through Burlington.

Trail construction is currently underway and is expected to be ready by December of this year along with related Lakeshore Rd. resurfacing and Pine Cove Bridge Replacement.
