A kidnapping in Niagara Falls has led to Halton police searching for a man who continued his alleged crime spree in Burlington.
Events unfolded just before midnight on Jan. 14 in Niagara Falls when police there say they responded to a call of an abduction when a man stole a vehicle that was occupied by a woman and a child.
The man didn’t travel far when he forced the woman and child out of the vehicle, according to police. The pair were not harmed or injured.
The next morning, the stolen vehicle was found damaged in the area of Baldwin St. and Hager Ave. in Burlington. Police believe the man stole another vehicle to flee the area.
Police in Niagara have since issued a bulletin with the name and description of the man they are looking for.
He is identified as Jason Stuart White, 38, an Indigenous male with dark hair and a medium build. He was last wearing a black coat, black sweater and jeans. He has been known to frequent the Ohsweken area.
Niagara police say he is wanted on charges of kidnapping, robbery, assault, uttering threats and dangerous driving.
White is also wanted by Halton police in relation to the offences of break-and-enter and robbery.
