A major development has been proposed for Oakville that would see over 1,000 housing units built along with an elementary school and the creation of new parks.

The proposed plan by developer Mattamy (Joshua Creek) Limited would be on 61.43 hectares of land located on the south side of Burnhamthorpe Rd. East and west of Ninth Line, which is north of the Dunoak and Argo subdivisions.

Plans call for the construction of 1,016 residential units, of which 702 would be detached homes and 314 townhouse units (185 on the street and 121 in the rear lane) along with new streets.

The subdivision would also include the consolidation of land that would create two neighbourhood parks and ultimately three village squares.

The draft plan would also bring a Catholic elementary school to be constructed in the near future.

Three of the blocks in the new subdivision would also have walkways.

The development would also assist in achieving a complete community in this location with the extension of roads and servicing between the Bressa, Dunoak and Argo neighbourhoods.

A staff-recommended report of the draft plan proposal is set to be presented at the Town’s Planning and Development meeting on Monday (May 15) and will have to go before Town council for final approval.
