Man Arrested in Halton Hills for Something Disturbing
A Brampton man is facing several charges for an indecent act along a trail in Halton Hills.
The incident took place on Aug. 9 around 4 p.m.
Two 911 calls came in about a man masturbating along the walking trail of the Hungry Hollow ravine in Georgetown, say Halton police.
A woman reported a half-naked male was performing an indecent act upon himself while shouting over to her and trying to entice her into a wooded area.
While searching for the man, officers were alerted by another woman trying to call 911 to report a man performing an indecent act upon himself in plain view on a bench in the same area.
Officers, including police dogs, found the suspect - who was still performing an indecent act in plain public view - moments later.
The man was arrested and taken to 12 Division in Milton, where he was interviewed by detectives.
“The culprit admitted to the indecent acts as well as other historical acts in and around the same area,” say police in a news release.
Connor James Sprayson, 24, is charged with two counts of committing indecent act, three counts of breaching probation, one count of breaching prohibition order, and one count of marijuana possession.
Although the Georgetown trail system is generally very safe, police are reminding the public to be cautious when walking or jogging in secluded areas.
While near the ravine, you may encounter wildlife, such as coyotes, get injured, “or in very rare cases, come across criminal activity.”
Cell phone coverage may be sporadic and calls to 911 may not work.
Police recommend trail users take a cell phone with them, walk with a friend or partner, and let others know where you’re going.
“If alone, always be aware of your surroundings and be careful of when you use earphones that could impede your sense of danger,” say police.
