Maple Leaf launches new line of products that are half meat, and half plant-based products
If you’re looking to spice up your BBQ options this summer during grilling season, you’re in luck, Maple Leaf has launched a new line of products that combine the best of meat and plant-based products.
Dubbed Maple Leaf 50/50, these new products are half premium meat and half plant-based and natural ingredients.
"There has been significant growth in the meat-alternatives category, but the taste, texture and long list of ingredients have been barriers for some consumers who want to explore plant-based protein foods," Casey Richards, senior vice-president of Marketing and Innovation for Maple Leaf Foods, said in a news release.
The Maple Leaf 50/50 line of products was designed to meet Canadians' desire to eat sustainably without sacrificing the taste and texture of traditional meat products.
"Providing delicious options that reflect the way Canadians live, cook and grill is a priority for us at Maple Leaf. We are proud to launch Maple Leaf 50/50 and introduce fusion protein as a balance of meat and plant-based protein for Canadians who love meat protein but want to make sustainable food choices,” he continued.
There are currently four products being offered as part of Maple Leaf 50/50, including sausages, burgers, and grounds.
The burgers are made of premium beef, pea protein, and natural ingredients, and provide 21g of protein per serving.
The dinner sausages are made of premium pork, pea protein, and natural ingredients, and provide 12g of protein per serving, while the breakfast sausages are made of premium pork, pea protein and natural ingredients, and provide 10g of protein per serving.
The grounds are made of premium beef, pea protein and natural ingredients, and provide 19g of protein per serving.
