Milton Public Library has announced all branches will be closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

In a message sent on X (formerly Twitter), the library said they will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 30, and Monday, Oct. 2.

According to information provided by the Town of Milton, for the surrounding days and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (which is Saturday), Town facilities and Milton Transit will operate on normal schedules.

“This will allow the Town to recognize this important occasion, for example, by turning all digital screens orange in its open facilities,” said a spokesperson.

“In recent years, the Town has undertaken a number of initiatives to support truth and reconciliation, such as the orange crosswalk, art exhibits and education. Each year, we strive to support increased awareness regarding the impact of residential schools.”
