Police have made an arrest in an investigation following an incident on Wednesday afternoon, June 26.

A vehicle with reportedly stolen plates fled from police on Childs Drive near Nippissing Road in Milton.  Police did not pursue, citing heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area at that time.

The following day, the same vehicle was located in a parking lot on Millside Drive.

“Officers observed the culprit changing the licence plates on the vehicle but he disappeared into a high rise before officers could engage him,” police say.

While searching the building, the suspect was observed in another vehicle in a covered garage area.

“As an officer approached the car, the suspect drove forward and made an aggressive steering manoeuvre to bump the officer,” police report. ” The officer managed to step back quickly and although grazed, was not injured.”

Shortly after, the vehicle was found abandoned in an industrial area and the suspect was found trying to flee along a railway line.  He was immediately apprehended and taken into custody.

Police say a search of his tote bag revealed he was carrying a short stock shotgun.

37 year old Milton man Graham Drennan is facing 17 charges including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Dangerous Driving, Assaulting Police Officer, as well as several charges related to drugs and breach of probation.

He was held for bail and was remanded into custody until July 11th.

“Drennan is well known to police in Halton and surrounding jurisdictions.  He currently has several warrants outstanding with other police services within the province.”
