Milton mayor proclaims April as Sikh Heritage Month

Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz has proclaimed April as Sikh Heritage Month and the flag at Town Hall has been raised as a result.
“We recognize and celebrate the growing and vibrant Sikh community here in Milton,” said the Town on Twitter.

Back in October 2020, Town Council reviewed and approved the Proclamation and Flag Raising Policy to both recognize and celebrate achievements along with raising awareness of important initiatives in the Town of Milton.
The policy outlines that any requests for an organization’s flag to be raised be submitted directly to the Mayor’s Office in order to ensure that a fair process is followed.
The request is then reviewed prior to being granted to ensure specific criteria are met.
