Milton Transit recently announced a partnership in order to help riders with special needs.

Milton Transit has partnered with Magnusmode – the creator of MagnusCards.

MagnusCards, according to a press release, is an app (mobile and web) that uses digital guides – card decks – and game elements to help people with cognitive special needs access their communities with more independence.

“Each card deck uses pictures and text to provide step-by-step instructions for various social interactions, situations, behaviours, and activities such as using Milton Transit,” notes the release.

As a result of the partnership, Milton Transit users can now use card decks to learn about buying tickets and passes, planning a trip, riding the bus and staying safe while using the town’s transit system.

The partnership, noted Tony D’Alessandro, Manager, Milton Transit, will allow Milton Transit to expand its reach.

“The launch of MagnusCards aligns with our commitment to ensure Milton Transit is accessible and available to everyone in the community,” D’Alessandro said in a statement. “Our partnership with Magnusmode expands our reach to agencies and their customers, and builds on our vision to promote mobility independence throughout Milton.”

The Milton Transit MagnusCards will be available on the MagnusCards app as of today (August 1).

Residents and transit users can visit the App Store, Google Play or miltontransit.magnuscards.com to download and explore Milton Transit’s free Card Decks.
