A cold, snowy December means ski and snowboard enthusiasts can hit the slopes for opening weekend at Glen Eden in Milton.

“The team at Glen Eden is looking forward to welcoming skiers and snowboarders for another fantastic season,” said director of parks and recreation Gene Matthews.

“Our snowmaking team has been working around the clock to get the hill ready with the best conditions possible.”

A Christmas theme day is happening on Saturday, Dec. 23.

Santa will be making an appearance; visitors can decorate on-slope Christmas trees at the learning centre while rocking ugly Christmas sweaters.

“We are confident all visitors will be pleased with our surface conditions whether they are learning to ski or snowboard, out enjoying some runs with family and friends, or throwing it down in the Terrain Park,” said Matthews.

These are the best opening week conditions in recent memory, according to officials.

Cold temperatures have allowed Glen Eden’s snowmaking team to make snow day and night over the 10 days leading up to its Dec. 21 opening.

Glen Eden expects to be fully operational with all lifts and trails open (and the Learning Centres and the Terrain Parks will also be ready).

Glen Eden is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. except for Dec. 25, when it will be closed for the day.

Check out the Glen Eden site to find out detailed information about which runs and lifts will be open, and more.

There are two Christmas Camps during the holidays. The first camp begins on Boxing Day, while the other starts Jan. 2.

Group lesson programs run starting on Boxing Day, there are also private and semi-private options.

Glen Eden is located at 5234 Kelso Rd., near Hwy. 401 Tremaine Rd.

It’s a 20-minute drive from Mississauga, Burlington, and Hamilton, and is operated by Conservation Halton.

FUN FACTS
