Moonlight Snowshoe Hikes Happening in Milton

It’s borderline romantic.

Or it could even be a fun family activity, depending on how much you actually like the people you’re related to.

Guided snowshoe hikes are taking place at Crawford Lake on Saturday nights in January and February.

Each hike begins with basic instruction and some historical background on the ancient sport of snowshoeing.

Then, you’ll strap on a pair of snowshoes and take a guided trek through the woodlands.

To cap it off, the evening ends with hot chocolate by the fire.

Snowshoe hikes are being held each Saturday in January and February from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Admission is $18 for adults and $13 for children and seniors (plus HST).

Keep in mind, this event isn’t recommended for kids under 10.

The program requires pre-registration and space is limited — the first hike was sold out.

If you can’t make it, here are other ways to enjoy nature.

Crawford Lake is located at the corner of Guelph Line and Conservation Rd. (formerly Steeles Ave.) 15 km north of the QEW and 5 km south of Hwy. 401.

The pristine waters of Crawford Lake have drawn people to its shores for hundreds of years.

The rare lake, with surrounding boardwalk, is nestled in lush forests atop the stunning Niagara Escarpment where visitors can watch soaring turkey vultures glide through the Nassagaweya Canyon.
