More parking for cars and bikes coming to the beach in Burlington

Overflow parking will soon be available for the beach on Willow Ave.

It’s going to be a little easier to bring your ride to Beachway Park in Burlington.

Two bike racks, a bike pump and a repair station have recently been installed at the beach to accommodate cyclists.

As well, additional parking spaces for cars are being added to an overflow lot at the corner of Lakeshore Rd. and Willow Ave. That space should be ready by July 7.

The parking changes and issues have been provided through an update provided by Ward 1 City Councillor Kelvin Galbraith’s office.

The update also points out that the City has now implemented paid parking at Beachway Park on weekends and holidays to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of the area.

Halton residents are given 10 free days of parking per year at Beachway Park and will be required to complete an online parking exemption form when arriving at the beach and legally parked. The exemption doesn’t guarantee a spot, but it does provide free parking for the day.

Once the 10 free days are used up, the parking rate is $2.50 per hour or a daily flat rate of $20. There is a transaction fee of $0.35 for each payment. Dashboard tickets are not needed as every payment is linked to a license plate number.

Fees will be charged from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays until the last weekend in September, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. Parking fees can be paid using the HONK mobile app or by scanning the QR code on the parking lot sign to pay for parking.
