Emergency crews are working to knock down several homes that have gone up in flames at a Burlington construction site.

A spokesperson with the Halton Regional Police Service has confirmed that firefighters and police were called to Lodi Road in the area of Dundas Street West and Walkers Line in Burlington around 4:15 a.m. on Monday for reports of a fire.

Police said three or four buildings have gone up in smoke and that firefighters were still on the scene as of around 9 a.m.

Burlington Fire Chief Dan Vanderlelie told reporters that three homes were fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene and at least four have been destroyed, according to reports.

Vanderlelie also said that two occupied homes next to the blaze had to be evacuated. No injuries have been reported, police said.

A police spokesperson said both Dundas Street West and Walkers Line are still open but police have closed Lodi Road and officers are still on the scene assisting firefighters.
