A Hamilton man faces second-degree murder charges in the death of a man found in Pier 4 Park.

The body of Jason Gallant, 50, a man from the Hamilton area, was found in Pier 4 Park on April 2, Hamilton Police said. The park sits on the northwest side of the city off of Burlington and Bay Streets.

Police believe Gallant died the night before his body was discovered. The Homicide Unit took over the investigation due to the suspicious circumstances around the death, police said.

On Thursday (April 18) evening, police executed two search warrants in Hamilton in relation to the investigation.

Michael Castiglione, 36, from Hamilton, is charged with second-degree murder, police said in a press release today (April 19).

Police are not seeking additional suspects or involved vehicles and believe the incident was isolated.

Gallant and Castiglione knew each other, police added.

If you have any information to provide regarding the investigation, please contact Detective Constable Lindsay Filice of the Homicide Unit at 905-546-2288.
