The annual Leathertown Festival is being held in Halton Hills next weekend.

The free event celebrating Acton’s history will take place Sunday, Aug. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual event always has something for the whole family, from live music to a car and motorcycle show, from vendors and artisans to food trucks.

New this year is the Kids Zone, an area that will bring together music, games, ice cream and costumed characters. Joining the fun will be Messy Labs, with an interactive slime show.

On the main stage will be musical acts Monty and the Crew, Transistor Radio Group and Wicked Truth.

Local acts featured on the Rotary Stage are Tannery Row, Beyond 50, Evensong, Maeve Sharkey, Acton City Limits and Jenny Blaze.

The car and motorcycle show will be in the parking lot of the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

If you plan on riding a bike to the festival, you can join up with Tour the Hills, a fundraiser for Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CAShh), which has organized a ride from the Acton GO station at 10:30 a.m. for a 15-km ride.

The local festival celebrates Acton’s proud history of being a leader in leather crafts for more than 180 years. At one point, it was home to the largest leather tannery in the British Empire.
