A new Business Concierge Program in Halton Hills will benefit the attraction of top-tier businesses to grow the local economy as well as support related economic development strategies.

“It’s about business attraction and support for major investments,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

The program takes an approach to identify key economic development opportunities and streamline the review process.

Additionally, eligible projects will receive a ‘white-glove service,’ which through a direct point of contact, will facilitate the investment, development and opening process.

“The Business Concierge Program will be an integral component to supporting the Town’s financial health by growing our non-residential assessment base,” said the Mayor, noting that “growing the tax base allows the municipality to deliver the programs and services residents and businesses have come to expect which in turn supports our high quality of life.”

An estimated $1 billion worth of potential investments and leads from more than 20 potential projects are in the pipeline that Halton Hills staff are working toward.

Key benefits of the program also include expediting the development review process and external agency collaboration.

Eligibility for the Business Concierge Program for non-residential investments includes meeting one or more of the following criteria.

The criteria includes whether the project comprises a large development in the Premier Gateway, Georgetown Employment Area or Acton Employment Area, a minimum of 100,000 sq. ft. of gross floor area, a high profile and complex proposal or major employment (100+ jobs) and assessment generator (total number of jobs and job density).

Additionally, it includes major office, commercial/retail use, mixed-use or tourism generator, a large monetary investment (i.e. 100s of millions of dollars), key sector aligned with the Town’s priority sectors (i.e. advanced manufacturing, clean technology, tourism, food and beverage, office) and project facing urgent timelines.
