A new parking lot has opened up near downtown Burlington that will hopefully relieve the search for space that shoppers and area residents continually search for to leave their cars.

The lot is located at 515 New St. at the corner of Caroline St.

However, the lot is only temporary as future plans call for a condo to be built on the site.

In the meantime, that new lot will only take mobile payments as there is no ticket machine at the site.

Payments can be made using the HONK Mobile app.

The City of Burlington notes that parking enforcement officers will know if you have paid by using your license plate since there are no paper permits and nothing to put on your dashboard. If you need to extend your stay, you can do that using HONK on your phone.

You will need to pay Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. and on weekends and holidays parking is free.
