A new case of COVID-19 has been reported at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Oakville.

A new case of COVID-19 has been reported at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Oakville.

The Halton Catholic District School Board confirmed the case on its website this afternoon. The website indicates the school is still open. The school is located at 124 Dorval Dr.

Halton Public Health has determined there is no risk of exposure to students or staff at the school. It is not known if the case involves a student or a staff member.

Students at the school have been back in classrooms since last week and all HCDSB are required to wear masks or face coverings at school unless there is a medical issue that makes it difficult to.

This is the fourth case of COVID-19 case at a Halton school since September.

Other schools that have reported cases are Burlington’s Brant Hills Public School and St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School and Oodenawi Public School both in Oakville.

A letter sent out to St. Thomas Aquinas parents indicates the person was a member of the school community.

“Halton Public Health have completed their review and have confirmed that there is no exposure risk to students or staff at school. The individual has been directed by Public Health to self-isolate for 14 days. Due to privacy legislation, no additional information will be provided,” the letter said.
