Santa Claus may be busy preparing for his big night, but one lucky kid in Oakville with an artistic flair will have a chance to grab the big guy’s ear before Christmas.

Children will want to get out their crayons as a little colouring could win them a phone call from Santa himself.

To enter the Santa Claus Parade Colouring Contest, print out the 2021 illustration design by cartoonist Steve Nease or pick up a copy at any Oakville Public Library branch and then have your child colour it in.

Contestants must be 10 years of age or younger.

The top three finalists will have their artwork featured during Oakville Mayor Rob Burton’s fireside chat with Santa being held virtually on November 27 at 9 a.m.

The first-place winner will get a call from Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

Completed colouring sheets should be submitted to [email protected]. Deadline for the colouring contest is Friday, November 12 at 4 p.m.

A scan or photo of the completed art can be sent as a jpeg, png or pdf file.

Entries must include the child’s name, age, as well as an email and phone contact information for the adult submitting on the child’s behalf in the email.

All kids will have a chance to have their question played for Santa during his fireside chat with Mayor Burton.

To submit your video question, film a short question (30 seconds in maximum length) and email to [email protected] before the 4 p.m. deadline on November 12.

The video must be in .mov or .mp4 format and no longer than 30 seconds. Also make sure to include the first name and age of the participant in the email submission.

Participants must adhere to the Town of Oakville’s right to use submission and acknowledge that your submission may appear in the Mayor’s Fireside Chat with Santa broadcast on November 27, 2021, in social media, and shared online, including promotional materials.

Video submissions will be reviewed by the Town of Oakville’s Special Event staff and a selection of videos will be chosen to appear in the broadcast.
