A resident has been charged with assault following a recent incident in Oakville.
A resident has been charged with assault following a recent incident in Oakville.
Around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, Halton police responded to reports of an intoxicated male at 2325 Trafalgar Road near Glenashton Drive.
The male was said to be drinking an open can of beer, yelling and swearing at people passing by, and sticking his head into people’s vehicles.
Officers located the man in the area of Trafalgar and Iroquois Shore Road, where he allegedly assaulted an officer and was arrested.
“Once in custody, the man spat directly into the face of an officer, and continued attempts to fight,” police said.
32 year old Oakville man Scott MacIntyre is charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Cause Disturbance, Fail to Comply with Probation, and Public Intoxication.
MacIntyre was held for a bail hearing.
“This is a concerning and unsettling incident for our entire Service,” Halton police said. “The risk of exposure is always a concern for officers but is heightened during COVID-19.”
Halton police’s Health & Safety and Organizational Wellness Units are continuing to monitor the situation for the officer and their family.
