An Oakville man was arrested after an investigation by a joint carjacking task force.

The Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force, with assistance from Halton police, searched a home in the area of Trafalgar Rd. and Glenashton Dr. on Monday, Jan. 15, where they said they recovered a stolen vehicle.

Daniel Rokicki, 18, of Oakville, has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, trafficking stolen property and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.

The Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force was formed as a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the GTA.

Local police services have combined resources and established the task force to further coordinate law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.

This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.
