Oakville traffic stop leads to more than 20 gun and drug charges

 

Halton Regional Police say a traffic stop Wednesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and several drugs.

Officers conducted the stop in the area of Winston Churchill Blvd and Sherwood Heights Dr in Oakville. Police say they then found a loaded .22 caibre handgun, $4,400 in Canadian cash, and a slew of drugs; including fentanyl, methamphetamine, oxycodone tablets, and powdered and crack cocaine.

Garnett Grant, 18, of North York was charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Crack Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Meth
  • Possession of a controlled substance - Oxycodone pills

Garret Grant, 21, of Toronto was charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Crack Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Meth
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Oxycodone pills
  • Possession of a controlled substance - Oxycodone pills
  • Possession of a restricted firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing that there is a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon
  • Carry a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of firearms regulation
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing that its serial number has been defaced

Both accused were held pending a Thursday bail hearing in Milton.
