Getting pulled over for one traffic violation can lead to another.

That was certainly the case for one Oakville driver on Tuesday (Aug. 1).

A Halton Regional Police District Response Officer pulled over a driver for allegedly speeding 108 Km/hr in a posted 60 Km/hr zone.

When the officer arrived at the vehicle to talk to the driver, another road safety matter caught his attention in the backseat.

“While speaking to the driver, the officer observed a (five-year-old) child not wearing a seatbelt,” said Halton police on social media.

Police say the drive has been summoned to court and have had their licence suspended for 30 days. Their car has also been impounded 14 days.
