Ontario reporting 149 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, one new case in Halton

Ontario is reporting a total of 837 cases of confirmed COVID-19 in the province as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday (March 26).

That is a total of 149 newly confirmed cases since Wednesday.

While the location of some cases is still yet to be determined, there is one newly confirmed case in the Halton Region.

According to Halton Public Health’s COVID-19 website (which was updated at 10:30 am on March 26), 18 people have been diagnosed in the region. Ten cases in Oakville, two in Milton, five in Burlington and one in Georgetown.

The province’s website indicates that the new case in Halton is a woman in her 20s who recently travelled to the U.S.

Of Halton’s cases, one has been hospitalized and one man in his 50s has died.

While most cases in Halton are travel-related, there is evidence of community spread throughout the region, health officials have said.

Residents are reminded to wash their hands frequently and stay home unless it is not possible to do so.
