As the holidays are fast approaching, office holiday parties, family gatherings, and ‘friendmases’ are happening more frequently.

And, while these kinds of events can lead to memorable nights spent with loved ones, they can also end with people driving after having had too much to drink.

In an effort to curb drinking and driving, the OPP has launched their annual Festive RIDE campaign, wherein they attempt to crackdown on impaired driving.

So far, OPP officers have filed 17 charges in relation to this year’s campaign, including five charges for impaired driving.

Those who will be attending any events like these and are planning on drinking are strongly encouraged to plan ahead, and find alternative means of transportation including a taxi, uber, lyft, bus, or one of the ride sharing programs that commonly occur this time of year.
