Oshawa forward, Oakville native Ritchie named OHL Rookie of the Month

Oakville native and Oshawa Generals centre Calum Ritchie was named the OHL Rookie of the Month for October on Tuesday.

The 16-year-old graduate of the Oakville Rangers U16 program led all rookies with seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 10 games.

The six-foot-two, 178-pound forward also led all rookies with 44 shots and his two game-winning goals ties him for the league-lead.

Ritchie, who was Oshawa’s second overall pick in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, kicked off his major junior career with goals in five consecutive games from Oct. 8th to 17th.

He recorded a season-high four points (2-2-4) in a 6-3 win over Peterborough, before rounding-out the month by scoring the winner in a 3-2 victory over the North Bay Battalion on Oct. 28th.
