Owner wants to reduce parking spaces at proposed Milton development

A public meeting is being held about an upcoming development in Milton.
The developer wants to reduce the amount of parking needed and increase the bicycle storage capacity for lands located at 8010-8150 Derry Rd. W.
Milton residents are invited to provide input at the statutory public meeting being held Monday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 150 Mary St.
Originally, the approved application included stacked townhouse dwellings, however they were removed at the site plan approval stage as a result of parking constraints and stormwater management concerns. The units were reallocated to the apartment buildings.
However, to meet consumer demand, design changes were made and, as a result, the stacked townhouse block of 27 units is being reintroduced by the new owner and the overall density has increased.
A zoning by-law amendment is required to reduce the required parking for the apartment buildings and stacked townhouse dwellings while increasing the maximum combined gross floor area for accessory buildings to permit the development of six bicycle storage shelters.
A local official plan amendment is required to increase the maximum density on the site to 295 units per net hectare.
