Paramedic Day will highlight week of honours for crucial service in Oakville, Burlington, Milton

Your chance to learn more about Halton’s paramedics and their importance to residents of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills is just around the corner.

In recognition of Paramedic Services Week, May 21 to 27, Halton Region is inviting the community to celebrate Paramedic Day on Saturday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is being held rain or shine at Woodlands Operations Centre 1179 Bronte Rd. in Oakville.

“I am proud of all of the hard work our paramedics do each day to keep our community safe and healthy,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr.

“They provide life-saving treatment, deliver programming to educate our community and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paramedic Day is our opportunity to celebrate and thank them for all their efforts to respond to emergencies and provide critical care in Halton.”

Paramedic Day is a fantastic opportunity to meet Halton’s paramedics and learn more about what they do.

There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy including exploring emergency vehicles, learning about CPR, trying on tactical equipment and meeting members of the paramedic team.

Halton’s Paramedic Services team responds to more than 55,000 calls each year from 15 ambulance stations located throughout the region. They transport more than 35,000 patients annually, providing pre-hospital care.

Halton’s Paramedics played a crucial role in the Region’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing support for local long-term care and retirement homes, mobile testing and continued response to emergencies in the community.
