The shortage in housing supply has resulted in extremely tight market conditions, however demand for ownership housing remained very strong in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

According to the Toronto Region Real Estate Board, today’s extremely low inventory levels are constraining the number of sales that can take place in all GTA marketplaces, including Halton. In short, it’s firm sellers’ market.

These tight inventory conditions are contributing to creating a very competitive marketplace for buyers with strong price appreciation.

Halton Region has one of the highest price points of any GTA market, with an average price tag of $1.48M.

With only 685 new listings, down 20 per cent compared to last year, and 497 sales (down 22 per cent), conditions have become extremely competitive for buyers.

The average detached home in Halton topped a new record last month with an average price of $1,942,724 (up 26 per cent) and only 244 homes trading hands (down 26 per cent). The detached segment is overwhelmingly the most popular housing type on the market.

Other housing types like condo apartment, condo town, and semi-detached had 88, 49, and 28 sales and an average price of $792,661 (up 43 per cent), $963,484 (up 35 per cent), and $1,317,038 (up 40 per cent), respectively.
